Music Monday

I am so excited to present to you my first Music Monday post. So, I will start with a little music background for you, so you know what to expect and where I am coming from. Music is such a huge part of my life. There are very seldom days when I don't have a pair of headphones in my ears. Luckily for me, I have a job that allows me to be able to listen to music as I work. So I literally can listen to music 24/7, beginning when I wake up to KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic with Jason Bentley, to my iTunes at my desk, then out the door with my Shuffle on my run and in the car to work.

When I moved to Los Angeles, I was turned on to KCRW and was blown away by their musical hosts; including the already mentioned Jason Bentley to Garth Trinidad to Liza Richardson to Anne Lit and more. So it is fair to say that the majority of the music I listen to is alternative and indie. However, good music is good music and I don't let that discriminate against other genres as well, including pop, reggae, hip hop, etc.

When I first started working out to lose weight music was one of the few things that got me excited to sweat. Most of the time, the music on my shuffle is geared to the rock, pop and dance. But basically, I just look for something that moves me. If I feel it move me, then it will make a good running song, for my tastes.

Here are some of the top 5 songs I am listening to right now that motivate me on my runs:

Florence and the Machine, "Heavy in your Arms"

Mark Ronson, "Bang Bang Bang"

Hall & Oats, "I Can't Go For That"

Laura Veirs, "July Flame"

N.E.R.D., "Hypnotize You"

Glasser, "Apply"

Gorillaz, "Empire Ants"

Enjoy!
