Our immune system is amazing. If you even know how hard it works for us, you would be in awe!
And yet, every now and then one pesky bacteria or virus gets through Fort Knox.
And don't get me started on the last 2 years. And this past year about 60-70% of my client have had covid, and nearly all my clients have known someone that has had it.
I know we all just want to feel good and at our best. So, I am here to help! Aside from you already know to do from Dr. Fauci and the lovely CDC, I want to share with you a few tips on having a healthy immune system:
Sleep - Getting 7-9 hours daily, of quality sleep is the number one thing you can do for for your immunity and pretty much anything in your health and life! Eat more whole food plants - think veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds and legumes. They are full of nutrient-density like vitamin C and anti-oxidants to keep inflammation down and immunity strong. Try getting 1/2-3/4 of your plant full of these.
Eat healthy fats - if you are still fat-phobic let's chat. Foods like olives, avocados, egg yolks, healthy oils reduce inflammation and help keep the immune system functioning well.
Stay hydrated - you might get tired of hearing this from me. But that should tell you just how important this is! Dehydration actually makes us more susceptible to illness. Tip: if you wait until you are thirsty you are already dehydrated. So drink up!
Manage stress - This is key to our cells that manage our immunity. Things like meditation, breathing, getting out in nature, yoga, a bath, you name it. But aim for the anti-inflammatory side of stress-relief, things like alcohol, smoking or binge eating are not the best coping mechanisms for stress and will actually push us our of immune balance.
