...with no. 9 of my 30 before 30 list :) This happened last Friday. And now off to Portland in a few hours! Two down, 28 to go!
My 30 before 30 list
It's taken about a month since my 29th birthday and to get my list of things I'd like to accomplish before I turn 30. But with no further ado, here it is (in no particular order):
- get a dog
- learn calligraphy
- lose 10 lbs (and keep it off)
- PR in a race
- learn to knit
- take voice lessons
- get my 2nd tattoo
- freelance a job that is fun to design
- get new portfolio up
- learn to basic html/css
- minimize the "stuff" in my life (aka clutter)
- bake more
- make Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon
- journal regularly
- take more pictures
- draw/paint more
- make some jewelry
- strength train 2-3 times a week
- do more yoga
- buy less stuff
- travel somewhere I have not been
- do something nice anonymously
- surf
- charity work
- buy something from Lululemon (I know this is contradictory to number 21, but don't care)
- write more handwritten notes
- be more calm and patient
- mediate more
- wake up and watch the sunrise with someone I love
I realized it had been a while since I posted, and my good friend Lauren and I are going to get tattoos tonight after work. I will share pictures next week. Which made me realize I had this list of 30 before 30 that I never posted. So, with this post, number 8 is nearly scratched off the list :)
Reunion weekend
I am heading home to Palm Springs for a huge family reunion, (yes, people actually are FROM Palm Springs). We even have cousins flying in from Australia to attend. It's going to be an interesting weekend to say the least. I heard part of this little ditty on a Kate Spade promo and it reminded me of going away for the weekend. I will make it my anthem.
"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."
There are a lot of posts out right now dedicated to Steve Jobs passing yesterday. I debating heavily doing one myself. And obviously you can see my decision.
I was thinking last night how big of an impace Mr. Jobs had on my career and life. Not only would my first computer not have been the first iMac out there, you know the big alien-shaped blue cone head one, but moreover, I may not have gone into design. I loved Macs and loved designing on them. If I had to design on a PC, I may never have done so. Period.
So, a heartfelt "Thank You" goes out to him and his family and friends, the people that touched his life, so that he could touch mine so greatly.
I will leave you with this great wall paper design from The Fox is Black. You can download it here.

Travel with a Cote
traveling. i sure do miss it. growing up is great, but a full time job and bills, not so much. i think i must have taken my first backpacking trip with my mom when I was 12? And yup, you guessed it, she made me wear my own backpack. And yep, it was pretty much bigger than me. And I loved it.
so when i saw these images/illustrations from the Cote D'Azur, you guessed it, i quit, and got on a plane pronto.
ok. well, not really. but you wouldn't blame me. would you?
and of course illustrator Catherine Orchard is coming with...
29 going on 30
So today I turn 29.
My good friends from work helped me kick off the celebration with a little Susie Cake at lunch! Yum!
29, in and of it self, isn't that significant of a number.
Unless you start to think about it a little more...
Then you realize this is the last year you will ever be in your 20's! Yikes! So I have one year to get it together.
Just kidding! But, in fact, I was thinking of putting together some sort of challenge for the year. A set of goals to work on this next year for when I do turn 30. I know a few people that have put together a list of "30" things/goals. I am thinking maybe something for each month for the next year? Not sure I will think about it this week and do a post on what I figure out later this week or next.
Any ideas on how to begin to celebrate my last year in my 20's? Did you do anything for your 30th? Would you if you could do it over?
