Last year I did my first Triathlon, the Nautica Malibu triathlon, International Distance.
I had originally wanted to sign up for the Sunday "Classic" race, it's a sprint triathlon. I didn't realize that it sells out the day it opens up to register. The only other option was the Saturday "International", otherwise known as the Olympic Distance race. I wasn't sure I wanted to do that much for my first triathlon. But a few friends of mine (who by the way had done a few sprints, but never the Olympics) nudged me into signing up for it with them.
Having done my share of races and marathons, I knew I had to stick to my training plan and train hard to prepare for my first (and Olympic distance) triathlon.

I promised this post a long time ago, and I have been so bad at blogging this month. The reason, I must confess is that I am moving for the first time in 3 years. Which is the longest I have ever stayed in any one apartment since I moved to LA, 7 years ago. Needless to day I have ALOT of stuff to get rid off and pack. Anyhoo... in the previous post I think I mentioned my frustration with starting the Blue Print Cleanse. Once I started the cleanse I was so happy. I was actually never hungry during the cleanse. There was a brief moment in between juice 3, 4 and 5 of the first day where I thought I was hungry. Key word here, "thought". But it turned out to be more the not chewing thing and more a general getting used to that much fluids in my body and things flushing out.

I have never been a proponent of detoxing your body in extreme ways. I am a firm believer that your body was made to naturally detox. I am a runner and avid outdoors girl and I believe that all the good fresh produce I eat, the nearly 120 ounces of water I drink and my daily sweat is about all I need to detox. Though back when I was bartending in Hollywood, about 5 years ago, I did try the Master Cleanse. It was the most awful experience. I was so sick, I had to be sent home from work on the second day. It was supposed to last for 7 days. That didn't happen. I vowed to never do a juice cleanse again!

Since just wrapping up my blog posts on my first marathon, I find it not coincidental that this weekend marks, not only, my 2 year anniversary of my marathon premiere but also the culmination of my marathon training for my 3rd marathon, my 20 mile run (for the Seattle Rock N Roll). So, I thought it appropriate to share some something and someone that inspires me, as a designer, runner and in life generally, Julian Bialowas and his project 365Q.
Here's to my 20 miles tomorrow and to tapering in the rest of the weeks to come!

I am heading out to Palm Springs (otherwise known as my hometown) for my little and only brother's high school graduation. Mine seems so far away now (class of 2000!), whoa, I am getting Old. I will come back prepared to blog all about my visit to the dry heat and golf! Yey for the long weekend. ------
This is a continuation of my last blog post, a detailed experience of my first marathon... see Part V
(My Goal was to finish this multi-part blogs post by the LA Marathon, so the end is finally here, as the race is in two days and I am excited!)
